If you come to the theater to relax, and unwind - think again. Not this theater. The story of Hadestown is a story of reflection, of today's life and times in, and of, today's world. Unemployment. Starvation. Homelessness. Slave labor and generally not a very nice place. The teen edition is the same story, and we all know that the teens have a LOT more angst on the go than the adults. The story has been modified, in as much as some dialogue has been toned down and brought more into line with today's teen language. The music has also been changed a little, to reflect today's beat. Virginia Theatre, in Champaign, Illinois is very excited and thrilled to be staging this teen performance, of the interesting Greek mythological and tragic love story, turned modern, on Saturday 19th July. Follow Orpheus, as he tries to engineer the escape of his lover, Eurydice, from the clutches of King Hades and his underworld.

HADESTOWN - TEEN EDITION
Hadestown, the residential heart of the underworld, owned and overlorded by the Draconian, King Hades. Hades' wife, Persephone, prefers the more glamorous life of the outside world. Hades has enticed a young girl, Eurydice, into his lair with promises of a better, warmer life. Her singer-songwriter lover, Orpheus, must compose a love song in exchange for Eurydice's freedom. The Teen edition has a few dialogue changes and the music is modernized to reflect todays youth beat.

Virginia Theater is magnificent. Amazing views of the stage, from every angle within the huge and spacious theater. With its tiered design, every member of the audience can easily see and hear what happens on the stage, thanks to exquisite sound and acoustics. Very comfortable seating compliments the fantastic lighting. A visit to the theater is an experience all on its own.
